On the night of September 26th 2014, the brothers of Phi Delta Chi hosted our annual Hawaiian themed dance floor, Kamanawanalea. The dance was held from 9 – 11PM and over 200 guests attended. This year, some new things were featured at the dance, including a photo booth and a snack bar. This photo booth was one of two options available for guests to have their pictures taken. The first photo op was available outside the dance floor room, featuring a Hawaiian backdrop, props, and standing room. The second was inside, where props were also available, and pictures were instantly printed for guests. Kamana featured music by the group Plural who never fails to create an enjoyable and animated atmosphere. When asked about her thoughts on the night, Brother Cindy Hsieh describes her experience: “I had such a great time at Kamana this year! I got to de-stress before midterms with great dancing music, awesome people with good vibes, and two stations for Hawaii-themed pictures to be taken, including a photo booth! It was great celebrating with all my brothers and seeing our hard work come to fruition!”

Kamana is one of the biggest events that the Alpha Psi chapter holds every year. Many brothers agree with Cindy that this is a great way to de-stress and have fun not only with brothers, but with other students and friends from Pacific. Guests definitely enjoy the Hawaiian vibe that the brothers create, and enjoy dancing while dressed up in leis, grass skirts, and Hawaiian flowers.

Kevin Chan, the brother who planned and hosted the event, sums up his experience by saying, “Planning Kamana was such a great experience and I had a lot of fun incorporating the Hawaiian theme. I think the best reward was seeing everyone enjoying themselves the night of!”
